Trailer Time: The Hangover: Part II

I've been meaning to write about this trailer since it premiered, but honestly, it's so bad, so so bad that I felt like it wasn't worth writing about.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the original film. The jokes were way too "on the nose" for my taste, and the characters weren't memorable at all. And this trailer doesn't make the second installment look any more promising.
I don't want to judge the film by its shortened two minute version, but it looks like for every moment in this trailer, there's a parallel in the original film. It's like they're trying to get people to watch the film to see the exact same jokes, only this time more far fetched. And people of course will watch it, because if box office trends tell us anything it's that originality is the last on people's checklist when they decide what they wanna watch.
Moving the crew from Vegas to Thailand, another Mike Tyson tattoo, Zach Galifianakis's monkey obsession, his shaved head, and the shooting in a strip club most likely won't be my cup of tea, unless this film gets ecstatic reviews and good word of mouth. Do you see that happening?
It opens on May 26h in Toronto. (Same weekend as Kung Fu Panda 2, and a week before Midnight in Paris, probably the two better summer comedies.)

  1. That was my first thought too. Same film different location.

  2. Considering I loathed the first movie, I don't see why this is being made haha, I know Hollywood isn't out there to please me, but still...
If the sequel wins the Golden Globe I'll punch someone though.

  3. tell me about it.
the first film was definitely the weakest winner of that award in the aughts.
